My Favorite Wu Yi Tea Brand

I do! The Wu Yi Tea Company stands out, not just because of their excellent product, but also because they are a stand-up company who deserve some recognition.

Some folks are a little gun shy when it comes to buying wu yi tea on the internet after the Wu Yi Source scam. The Wu Yi Tea Company mentions Wu Yi Source on their website because of the scam and offers a way to call them on Skype if you've been scammed by Wu Yi Source.

No, unlike Wu Yi Source, The Wu Yi Tea Company is a reputable company with a great product line. They are backed by the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and also take part in the BBB Online Reliability program. This is always a good sign and one you should look for with companies online (though it's not always relevant for small, start-up companies who are in fact, legit).

Based out of Austin, Texas, the company buys their tea from China. Wu yi tea itself is oolong tea grown in the Wu Yi Mountains. It's the same as calling potatoes Idaho if they are grown in Idaho. The mountain region is known for growing some of the very best tea in the world because of its perfect climate for tea plants.

The Wu Yi Tea Company adheres to strict fair trade practice. This offers the local farmers a fair price for their highly acclaimed tea while still preserving the environment where the tea grows. The Wu Yi Tea Company uses only unbleached tea bags (also beneficial to health and environment).

The tea is also certified organic by the USDA. No chemicals or artificial methods necessary! You'll benefit in health and peace of mind knowing there was less carbon footprint left behind.

Let's move on to the product line. There are 6 different types of teas, and they all have different health benefits. They also have a pretty good slimming supplement.

The supplement has a combination of wu yi and green tea extract, which would likely help you lose weight all on its own; however, the Wu Yi Tea Company doesn't stop there. They also added natural appetite suppressants in the form of garcinia cambogia and bitter orange, as well as energy boosters ginseng and guarna. If you are sensitive to caffeine, the guarna may not agree with you as it's similar to caffeine.

A few of the ingredients in the slimming supplement also make it unsafe for diabetics (due to effect on glucose) and Alzheimer's patients (due to acetylcholine production in the brain). However, these same effects are what help people in decent health lose weight.

Though wu yi tea in tea or supplement/extract form are not magic bullets, they can boost your weight loss efforts if proper diet and exercise recommendations are followed.

The wrecking that free radicals can do reaches all the way down to your DNA and can result in some serious illnesses.

One such illness is cancer, but the epigallocatechin-3-gallate, or EGCG, found within green tea helps to stop the growth of cancer cells as well as preventing the growth of any future abnormal cell growth.

While earlier a case was made for drinking Chinese brand green tea, there are some supplements that also work, but you must do research. Just because something includes the words green tea does not mean that you are getting the amounts that will affect you. Studies found that pills with the highest amount of extract work best for weight loss so don't just go for the cheapest option.

The exact reasons why and how green tea benefits so many systems of the body has not been completely elucidated, and even if you are only interested in losing weight the benefits are far reaching.

A green tea diet has been shown to safely and effectively speed up your metabolism so that you burn off more calories. Green tea tastes good and is refreshing whether taken cold or hot.

Can You Call Wu Yi Tea, Oolong Tea?

In fact, wu yi tea is oolong tea. But not all oolong tea is wu yi tea. This may sound a bit confusing. Let's talk about the various teas and then you will understand.

All real tea comes from a plant called Camellia sinensis. Afterwards, the processing dictates the final tea variety.

Over 75% of tea produced in the world is the highly popular black tea. The leaves are harvested and then withered by leaving them out. The remaining moisture is then rolled out via a machine (CTC) or the old-fashioned way by hand (orthodox). The hand method leaves the tea in tact more while the CTC method is a bit harsher leaving the leaves more crushed.

Afterwards, the tea leaves are spread out. They are left to oxidize in a damp place and the leaves turn from green to brown. Drying takes place using hot air. Then the tea is divided up in various categories according to the size of the leaf. These will be sold as different "grades" of tea.

In processing green tea, the process is similar expect that there is no oxidation. Instead, the green tea leaves are steamed immediately after being dried to stop any oxidation process. The nutrients are also left more in tact. However, the tea has a sort of grassy taste without the oxidation process.

Now, white tea is a rather special little tea. It is harvested only few days a year when the buds on the Camellia sinensis plant have yet to open. White tea processing is like green tea, but the young leaves lend to a very delicate, smooth flavor and aroma. We are finally seeing more white tea distribution, though it was once reserved for Chinese nobility. Because of its difficulty in harvesting, it is rather pricey.

Oolong tea is between green tea and black tea. Its flavor is similar to black tea; however, it still retains most of its nutritional value. This is because it is not oxidized as much as black tea. It is really a great alternative to the grassy taste of green tea and the lack of nutrients in black tea.

So, what of the naming business? Not all oolong tea is wu yi tea because wu yi tea has to be grown in the Wuyi mountain chain to be called by that name. It is simply oolong tea produced in a particular area that is well suited for growing oolong tea.

You can sort of compare the naming to Florida oranges or Washington apples. This northeastern area of China is capable of growing the best tea in the world because of the climate. The soil, cool weather and protection from the mountains produce great tea.

Once only considered for nobility, just like white tea, wu yi has grown in popularity with the world due to its great flavor, nutritional value and weight loss capabilities.
